Protecting the Integrity
of Doctorate Excellence
in Zambia

A non-profit Academic Institute safeguarding the value, recognition, and integrity of earned Doctorate Degrees and Professorship status

Championing the Value of Advanced Education

The Institute of Doctors of Philosophy and Professors (IDPP) is a professional association that brings together holders of Doctorate degrees, Professors, and senior academics in Zambia. It serves as a collective platform for learned minds — advancing academic excellence, protecting the integrity of earned qualifications, and ensuring that doctoral-level expertise is recognised and fully utilised in national development.

We sensitize employers, academic institutions, government, and the public and private sector on the importance of education attained at Doctorate level and Professorship status — collaborating on quality assurance with universities to ensure all Doctorate Degrees awarded are credible. Registered under Article 21 of the Zambian Constitution and Cap 119 of the Laws of Zambia.

Message from the President

Hope Has Come for Zambia's Learned Minds

On behalf of the Institute of Doctors of Philosophy, and other holders of terminal degrees, I hereby announce good news to all employers, universities, key stakeholders and the individual persons who have competently attained the Doctorate degree level and/or Professorship status. We recognize that this academic journey has been rough, and indeed it took many years to reach the terminal degree level in the academic ladder.

For a long time, we merely carried the titles of Doctor or Professor with no well-defined benefits and no collective voice. The good news is that we are now registered as a Professional Association to regulate ourselves and bring sanity to the fraternity. Our registration came into effect on 10th February 2026, and we are now a beacon of hope and a collective wisdom of learned minds.

The vision of having this professional umbrella started years back, and though it tallied, today it has finally come to pass. Time has come for all Doctors of Philosophy and Professors to rise to the occasion collectively, re-brand, and become relevant. Let us cast this vision, run with it, and be part of this movement.
